Shelby Spicer (Director, U17s Head Coach) was raised in La Conner, Washington and started playing volleyball in 6th grade. She played varsity for 4 years at La Conner High School as a setter and helped lead the team to state championship matches all 4 years. Shelby then went on to play junior college volleyball before suffering a career-ending injury (ask to see the picture :)) her sophomore year. After junior college, she went to WSU where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Go Cougs!). Shelby enjoys playing indoor and grass volleyball in a competitive league in Seattle in her spare time. This is Shelby's sixth season with 206 and her fourth season as Director.

 

Carsen Nies (Head of Coaching, U15 House Team Coach) began playing volleyball in 6th grade in Phoenix, AZ, where she got involved in club and beach volleyball. Carsen moved to Portland, OR for high school and was the starting varsity starting setter. In high school, Carsen was on the All-League First Team each year and was named MVP of the league her junior year. Throughout high school, Carsen played club in Portland. She later attended University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, and following college, Carsen moved to Seattle and began coaching JV and Varsity at the Northwest School in Capitol Hill. She is now in law school at Seattle University. Carsen has loved the opportunity to teach others the sport.

 

Olivia Smith (U17s Assistant Coach) grew up in Northern California and was first introduced to volleyball in middle school. In high school, she played one year of JV and three years of Varsity, and was named Captain for Junior and Senior Year. Olivia played intramural volleyball in college, graduating from Syracuse University with a B.S. of Marketing Management and Minor in Political Science. She moved to Seattle in July, and is so excited to join the 206 team and share her love for volleyball with players!

 
 

Carly Crowder (U16s Head Coach) has been playing volleyball for over 15 years now and has played outside, middle, right side, and setter.

Carly started off with a middle school juniors camp and immediately fell in love with the sport.  She then played during her three years in middle school.  During high school, she played one year of JV and three years of Varsity near Atlanta, Georgia.  Carly played club volleyball for various organizations for about 6 years. She was often captain for her team and was selected for the All Area team during her Senior year of high school.

Carly has been coaching club and middle school for the past 4 years. She has coached 13's,14's, and 17's at every experience level. She loves being able to develop players with little to no experience and show them why she loves the sport. Carly also loves helping experienced players shape their skills and become better all-around players.

Carly graduated from the Savannah College of Art & Design with her BFA in Game Development last June and moved to Washington in February. She’s loved playing various adult indoor and grass tournaments and has enjoyed Seattle so far. Carly looks forward to showing all players her passion for the sport and coaching at 206!

 

Juliana Faulconer (U16s Assistant Coach)

 

Lauren Elton (U15s Head Coach) is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. She fell in love with volleyball at a young age of 10 when she was invited to a volleyball summer camp by her friend. Her passion was furthered when she went on to play for her local club team. During her high school years, Lauren was on national travel team which traveled around the United States. Her Junior and Senior year she was team captain on her club team. Lauren lettered on her varsity team during her Junior year. She was offered multiple scholarships for universities around the nation. She is currently finishing her degree in marriage and family studies.

She recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest because her husband was hired as a firefighter in Seattle. She has fallen in love with the PNW and is looking forward to making it her home. Lauren is excited to share her passion and knowledge of volleyball to others.

 

Gillian Potts (U15s Assistant Coach) grew up in Phoenix, AZ, and came into playing volleyball accidentally. After a friend of hers invited her to their volleyball practice in 4th grade, she immediately fell in love with the sport. She played recreational for a couple years, before moving onto club in high school. After graduating, she moved to Seattle to attend Seattle University and study Public Relations while also playing on SU’s club volleyball team. Gillian is primarily a middle blocker/hitter, and is excited to start coaching!

Karynne Patterson (U13s Head Coach) grew up in Renton, WA and started playing volleyball in sixth grade. She played club volleyball for five years and has experience playing in all positions on the court. Karynne has been an active recreational league player now for over ten years in the Seattle area, playing in indoor, grass and beach leagues. Karynne believes that anyone can play volleyball and works to instill confidence in her young players. She wants them to learn a solid set of skills and a love for the game that they can use for a lifetime of playing volleyball. She is looking forward to her third season coaching with 206!
