HOW TRYOUTS WORK

If you are new to Club Volleyball, the tryout process can be confusing your first time out. All clubs in the area operate their tryouts on a similar schedule that is dictated by the Puget Sound Region of USAV (USA Volleyball Association). Here's how it works:

1) Check out the range of clubs available in your area. Pay attention to the practice locations as you'll be driving to and from practice up to three times a week for 5-6 months. This can be daunting but know that once you join a team there will be plenty of carpooling opportunities. Many clubs hold an open house with Q&A for parents to meet club directors and coaches. This is a good way to get a feel for the different clubs to see if one feels more comfortable for you and your daughter.

 2) Tryout dates are scheduled by age group and are held in October/November. Girls often try out for several clubs. To try out for a club, the player needs to purchase a $15 Junior Tryout Membership from USAV which covers all tryouts, and then register for each club's specific tryout date. Go to the Puget Sound Region tab under “Resources & Events” to learn more, or click the button below to learn how to renew your USAV Membership.

3) Each club and coach is looking for different things when building a team. After tryouts, clubs and/or individual coaches will make offers to certain girls to join their team. For the 2021-2022 season: Each club must give the player/guardian 72-hrs from the time of the offer to submit the signed PSR Letter of Commitment to the club. Clubs may not present the PSR Letter of Commitment prior to the first day of scheduled tryouts. Find more information about the PSR Letter of Commitment and Signing Rules here.

4) Incumbent Policy: 206's policy is that everyone is evaluated based on skill and attitude during tryouts, and that no one is guaranteed a spot simply because they've played with 206 in the past. That being said, we do acknowledge that should there be two players of similar skill level with one being an incumbent and one being new to 206, preference may be given to the incumbent.

Refund Policy

We do not refund registration fees for clinics, season tuition, or other programs, unless the program is cancelled by 206 Volleyball.

A REMINDER FOR PARENTS & PLAYERS: The week of tryouts can be stressful for both players and clubs as teams are forming. If you receive an offer from a club please be considerate of the club, coach, and of other girls trying out, and let the club know whether or not you plan to accept their offer. If not, the club can then offer that spot to an alternate player who would like to play for that team.
